Congratulations Sarah Kurchak!

Douglas and McIntyre is thrilled to announce that Sarah Kurchak's memoir, I Overcame My Autism and All I Got Was This Lousy Anxiety Disorder, has been nominated for the 2021 Forest of Reading Evergreen Award! Visit their website for the full list of nominees.

Presented by the Ontario Library Association (OLA), the Evergreen Award program is a perfect way for public libraries and book clubs to engage with best titles in Canadian fiction and non-fiction. It is one of ten programs that form the OLA’s Forest of Reading, Canada’s largest recreational reading program of its kind with over 270,000 Canadians participating each year.

“During uncertain times, it is more important than ever to listen to one another’s stories. Something that I really enjoy about working with the Evergreen Selection Committee is the breadth and diversity of the stories that we get to read,” says Erin Kernohan-Berning, Chair of the Evergreen Award Selection Committee. “The final list is only 10 of those many stories being told by writers across Canada, and I hope by sharing these excellent books that readers will continue to discover what reading Canadian stories has to offer.”

A committee of library professionals chooses the nominated titles for the Evergreen Award. Votes from readers are tallied for the award in September and the winner will be announced during Ontario Public Library Week in October.
