Maria Tippett

Dr. Maria Tippett (1944–2024) was the author of several award-winning books of cultural history including Emily Carr, which won the Governor General’s Award for English-language non-fiction in 1979. She taught in BC at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia and the Emily Carr University of Art and Design; in Ontario at York University; and in England at Cambridge University where she was a Senior Research Fellow at Churchill College and member of the Faculty of History. She lived on Pender Island, BC.
